CoCWiki:Guidelines
From CoCWiki
(Redirected from Wiki Editor Guide)
Some general guidelines to follow are:
- Make the page look nice (no signing your name on a page, use lists/tables, etc)
- Make pages across the wiki consistent
- Spell as well as you can

Uploading Images
- All images that you upload should be under 125kb, however it isn't too bad if you go over-- there is a limit.
- All images uploaded should be in file types .png or .gif (for animated images). This will help preserve file quality and keep server space up.
- Do not upload images of ranks, we already have a perfect database of them.
Grammar
When editing use as perfect grammar as you can muster. That means:
- Spelling correctly. It is recommended that you use a web browser like FireFox or Google Chrome that includes a spell checker instead of Internet Explorer.
- Capitalize correctly And not RanDomly.
- Punctuate when (and only when) needed.
- Use paragraph structures.
- Learn the difference between 'they're', 'their', and 'there' (It's very simple! Hint: Click to learn the differences!)
- Do not write in the first person (that means no using words like I, me, and my) except on your player page - you're righting an encyclopedia article, not a journal entry.
Formatting
When editing the Wiki, we want it to be both informational and not an eyesore.
- Divide pages into paragraph structure, and use ==Headliner Text== and ---- (Horizontal Lines) when necessary, but don't abuse them!
- Images help a wiki look like you want to read it. Play around with different types.
- Do not use bold font as headers.
- Try to use only letters (and sometimes numbers) in headers - avoid symbols like &, +, -, and /.
AG Pages
- It's not a good idea to use the player template to list many AG members, as it is hard to keep up to date. Instead use the agstruct template.
- Try to only name players that are significant within that AG - such as past CO's or current CCO's, but not necessarily MPs or players that happen to be well known.
Templates
- Templates that denote a status given to a page (such as Template:Afd and Template:Under Construction) as opposed to templates that contribute to the page's content (like Template:Player) should be placed on the article's talk page and not on the article itself.
