BAR
The Browning Automatic Rifle is one of the 2 heavy machine guns in the game. It is a very accurate weapon and is deadly in the Open. However, the MG-42 and BAR are at a big disadvantage in-doors because the distances are shorter and the enemy can run up and nade the machine gun-bearer.
The BAR and MG-42 alike can also prove effective against soldiers in cover by increasing something called stress. Stress is an important variable in all games, especially those which are too close to call. If one side has enough stress, their hit percents drop significantly and the unstressed side can rush with little fear of being shot. For this reason The BAR is used mainly by the CO or Higher Ranking Players because they know how to use it. In order to prove highly effective, The BAR and MG-42 must be strategically placed to hold a certain position. In some scenarios, BARs and MG-42s have been known to turn the tides of battles when holding a position against a rush or assault.
Additional Information
The BAR is only initially available to the Allies, but the Germans or Americans can kill the person with the BAR or MG-42 and use it against the gun's owners. The BAR and MG-42 take much longer to fire than other weapons but make up with this delay with their Accuracy. BAR and MG-42 holders who are killed count as two deaths, so for this reason the players holding the HMGs must be careful not to die.
MG-42
The MG-42 is the other machine gun in the game, it serves a similar purpose as above and initially, can only be used by the Axis. It is black, thus making it much more visible in the game, making it a bigger target to Allied players. The BAR however, looks similar to the Allied guns and is harder to spot amongst a stack of soldiers or a pile of corpses. The MG-42 has identical hit percentages and identical effectiveness to the BAR, contrary to what some people believe. To put it in a nutshell, they behave exactly the same, but look different.
M41A1-Thompson
The M41A1-Thompson Sub-Machine Gun is another weapon in the game. It is used only by the Allies and is usually assigned to any other player who doesn't get the BAR. The M41A1 is effective in medium to short range and is the fastest firing weapon in the game. The Thompson has a particularly low amount of ammunition without an Ammo Box and its bullets must be used sparingly in fire fights. M41A1 Thompsons and MP-40s have a slightly lower hit % than regular rifles.
MP-40
The MP-40 is a weapon that appears different than the M41A1-Thompson, but is actually exactly the same. As with the MG-42, it is slightly more visible to Allied Players and is targeted if the Allies want to have an MP-40 in their possession.
Additional Information
The MP-40 is only available to the Axis Team/Faction.
Regular Rifles
These rifles are the default weapons given to players, they are average in all environments and are the weakest weapons in the game. The Americans and Germans have 2 different rifles, the Axis Troops have the Mauser, and the Allies have the Garand. Even though they look only a little bit different, as with all other guns they are exactly the same.
Grenades
Undoubtedly the most important weapon in the game. Battles are won and lost by well-placed grenades, and are important to Call Of Combat as they require skill to be used efficiently. Players often get into Nade Wars, and the battle is usually won by the player who is more experienced. Both sides have the same type of grenade and have 5 of each, the grenades have a maximum throwing range of 6.5-7 squares and appear as black dots about 1 cm across on a player's screen. The grenades may run out quickly, so players must be weary of the amount of grenades they have left, if a player sees that he is low on them he can find a corpse and grab grenades that way or trade with a teammate.
Assigning a grenade box to a soldier gives that soldier two more grenades.
