Bottom left corner of the lobby "View Rank Ledgend"
OR:
(Left click to enlarge)
I Click Join, Java Loads To 100% And The Game Room Dosn't Open
- In the Lobby, go to CoC options (top left) and (un)select 'Use Java Webstart for Game'.
- If that doesn't work and you have Java 1.6, you may need to downgrade it.
Java loads to 68% and the box disappears
Version 1.6 java isn't always compatible with CoC, check your java version by going to 'Help' then 'About' in the lobby. If you have 1.6 java then you need to download 1.5 java and downgrade by following the instructions here.
How Do I Use the Lobby?
In the bottom left hand corner of the lobby there is a '?' click it for basic information, for a more detailed guide, go here.
I Forgot My Password!
if you can enter the lobby contact an MP within the lobby (if you can't enter the lobby Email mp@callofcombat.com) and ask them to reset your password. Alternatively please use the 'forgotten password' button on the Control Panel log in page. You can then enter the control panel, sign in with your new password and then go down to 'Change Profile' to change your password/any other information. We recommed you change your password to something else immediatly following a password reset in order to keep your account private.
I Can't Use The Forums!/How to Link My Forum Account
If for some reason you cannot log into your forum account, you may need to go to log into your Control Panel and go down to 'Link Your Forum Name'. Enter your forum name and password and this will Link the 2 accounts making your forum name the same as your current username. It is a little unpredictable if you have changed your password since signing up, if you are having trouble try all your past usernames/password combinations. If all fails talk to philster_d in the lobby or drop him an email at mp@callofcombat.com.
I've Been Banned!
Main Article: Banned
If your account has been banned you will receive an email through the email you signed up with or the one that is currently set in your Control Panel Profile. If in doubt, kindly E-mail an mp@callofcombat.com and review the Code Of Conduct. Please remember that the forums are not an appropriate place to discuss or question your ban. You can of course feel free to PM and MP or staff member in the forums to discuss.

Downgrading Java
On your computer go to 'Start' and then 'Control Panel'. Look on the left hand side for 'Switch to Classic View', click it. Now look for the 'Java' icon(looks like a coffee cup) and open it. Now look in it for a tab labeled 'Java' and click it. You should see two 'View' buttons. Click the bottom one. Now you should see different versions of Java displayed in rows. The far left column is the versions. Uncheck all the ones that are 1.6. You should now have a 1.5 something. If all you have is 1.6's, you can get 1.5 here Install it and then go back and see if it is there. Your 1.5's should be the only thing checked. Now you can exit your control panel, and everything open, and you should now be able to get into rooms.
No Debrief Screen
This problem can be caused by saving your layout at the wrong time during game. Either use the lobby options to delete the layout file, or find it in my computer - C:drive - my user - .coc - layout and delete.
Be careful when you save your layout!
Badly Sized Info Boxes (Chat/Controls)
- Open up a game and select the View menu and click Set Default Layout
- Select the View menu again and click Save Layout
Unable to use, or haven't received authentication email
There are issues with the authentication process and the AOL browser, if possible please use a different browser to authenticate.
- Select the entire URL in the browser, right click, select Copy
- Paste the URL in Internet Explorer, or another different browser, and press Enter
NOTE: The Authentication email can be marked as spam by mistake by certain filters, please check your Junk, Trash or Bulk Folders.
Press Join and get "Java Loading"
This is a Java 1.5 Problem that has so far not been solved.
Work arounds
The simplist and least likely to work.
- Select the CoC Options menu and clicking on (or off) 'Join rooms using browser'.
- Rebooting the Lobby and trying to join servers again
Note: If you don't even get the "Java Loading" message, rebooting is probably the most likely solution to your problems.
- If for any reason you cannot enter the lobby, use this link to get a wonderfly colour coded server list and simply click 'Join' as you would in the lobby. However if the lobby is down or you cannot enter it, there is a large possibility that you won't be able to enter servers.
Find Java Version
In the CoC lobby go to Help > About.
Black Screen
- When in a game, if the chat and controls can be seen yet the space where the map should be appears black.
Simply go to View in the top left hand corner and down to Reintialize 3D Graphics.
This should reload the map.
How To Set Up A Server
From the lobby click 'CoC Options' --> Launch Server
This will bring up a popup. Sometimes the popup will not show up in front of the lobby, minimize any windows you have open and the popup should be on your screen.
From this popup you can set the following:
Server Name: The name of the server that will show up in the lobby Comments: Comments for the server or description you want to show Port: (You should set this to 4359)
Enable Password: Set a password if you want
Enable Rank Limits: Can set what limits can join the room
Change Mode: There are 3 mode Types.
- No Points: Anyone may host a no points room
- Player Stats: Must have authorization from MP or Staff to host a Player stats room
- AG Stats: Must have authorization from MP or Staff to host an AG stats room
Server Settings: These are just general settings for the server
- Show in Lobby: When checked, the server will show up in the lobby for all players to see
- Log output: If checked, a log of the server will be kept on your computer
- Allow change of side limits: When checked, the highest ranked player in the room will be able to change side limits in the room
- Reset settings at mission change: When checked, whenever the map is changed, the mission settings will change to that maps default settings automatically.
- Room Limit: Maximum number of users allowed in the room.
If you are connected to the internet through a router, it will be necessary for you to setup port forwarding on your router. This process varies by type of router. Port 4359 needs to be opened for BOTH (TCP and UDP) or else your room will time out for other players.
The basic steps to setting up the forwarding are the following (note these steps are for linksys routers and may not be the same for others):
- Enter your router administration. To do this load your browser and for the address use your routers IP (by default linksys uses 192.168.1.1, I'm not sure about other brands)
- Click the Applications and Gaming tab on the top.
- Enter a name for the ports being opened, I just used CoC.
- Enter the ports that need to be opened, for coc they should be 4359 to 4359.
- Set the protocol, for coc it should be BOTH (this includes both TCP and UDP I really don't remember what each means, I think one opens it and one shows it or something like that)
- Set the IP address, this should be the local IP address on your network of the computer hosting the server. For example my IP address on my network is 192.168.1.101. NOTE this is not your ISP that you are connected to the interent with
- Check the Enable box
- Save the settings
How to fix your beta
Beta games are in some cases very different from the currently released version of Call of Combat. Therefore, special issues may arise while playing a beta game. These are general tips to help with beta games.
- Update your video card drivers
- If you're running Windows XP, go to start, run, type in the runbox 'dxdiag', and click ok. DirectX Diagnostic tool window should open, click on the display tab, and all the information of your videocard should be posted, on the right side of the window you should have your driver date.
- Windows Vista users: Click on start you should see a blank box, type in dxdiag, and follow the above instructions.
- For Nvidia video cards go to the NVidia home page
- For ATI Radeon drivers please go to the AMD home page
- Any error that has the word "java" relates to a Java issue.
- On Windows, go to Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs. Completely uninstall Java, then visit the Java homepage to re-download the latest, non-beta version of Java.
- Download JDK 5.0 update 17. This is a stable release that is known to work with Call of Combat.
- If you have more then 1 version of Java installed, make sure you only have 1 version running. Go to Control Panel and double-click the Java icon. Click on the Java tab, click on the bottom view, and make sure only 1 Java is checked. Reboot Call of Combat whenever you change your Java versions.
- Turn off all 3rd party programs; Hotkeys, Speedgear, etc. Please note that any recorded use of Speedgear will result in banning.
